Case Study

Ark Housing

Developing an innovative website for a nationwide housing association. Compliant with WCAG 2.1 Double A standards to ensure a great user experience for all.

Ark Housing

The Client

Ark Housing is a Scottish Charity that supports people with social housing throughout the country. Their diverse portfolio of properties carters for people with all kinds of different requirements. Their website serves as a natural tool for the people they support, delivering them information about the services they provide and the properties they have available. It also serves as hub for those who wish to help support the charity, including advertising vacancies for available positions.

Ark Housing

The Project

Ark required a new website to replace their current website. It had been in use for over a decade with limited updates and gave them limited flexibility for updating content without developers. They required the site to be built on a flexible and secure CMS that employees from across all different departments could update themselves easily regardless of web design proficiency. They also required a more modern design and UX layout for which there were other considerations highlighted by Ark, such as meeting WCAG 2.1 double A standard to assure it was accessible to all of these who would potentially need to use their services.

The Results

Working collaboratively with Ark Housing, The Zen Agency successfully implement a new clean WCAG 2.1 double A design that would refresh their current site. We implemented the site on Umbraco 9, using a modular “pod” design for the website. This meant it would be easy for all their staff to edit existing and build new pages with different layouts without having to come back to developers for publishing. We successfully implemented a series of forms for housing applications and job vacancies utilising the powerful yet simple Umbraco system.

Princes Trust Zen worked with Prince's Trust designing two mobile apps as well as conducted UX interviews and testing with young people enrolled in the program.
